COFFS Harbour’s Aunty Bea Ballangarry has again been recognised for the time and energy she gives to helping others.

She is one of 96 inspiring NSW women named in the 2013 Hidden Treasures Honour Roll.

It is the latest in a string of awards garnered by the Gumbaynggirr elder who uses words as tools for healing and teaching.

An awarded poet and writer, performer, singer, public speaker and educator in indigenous cultural studies, women’s health and domestic violence services, she is also a mother, grandmother, carer and advocate for mental health and social justice causes. More
