Call out to #ruralwomen crafters for The Great Gallery Garden…

From the Australian Forum of Textiles Art:

A gallery garden will be established at Tuggeranong Arts Centre, ACT 13 – 30 September 2012 and they are seeking collaborators who knit, crochet, felt, weave, stitch and construct to make flowers and other “growing” elements, which will contribute to an installation in the gallery coinciding with Floriade, Canberra’s annual Spring Festival.

In this exciting project with the broader community they aim to grow an imaginative and unique garden in the gallery, to complement their program of spring themed exhibitions, events and workshops across the Arts Centre. Pieces can range in size, colour and materials at the discretion of the maker, and can be for sale, less a 25% commission.

All contributions will be acknowledged in the installation. Further details can be obtained by phoning the curator, Narelle Phillips on 02 6293 1443 or emailing narelle.phillips@tuggeranongarts.com. Submissions close: Friday 31 August 2012.

Budding knitters can also enter the Great Canberra Scarf Competition for 2013 – the theme is “The Centenary of Canberra”.
