Congratulations to Jasmine Nixon… from ABC news online:
An agriculture graduate from the southern tablelands has been named the 2012 Royal Easter Showgirl. Jasmine Nixon from Crookwell has taken out the title at a ceremony in Sydney last night. Ms Nixon says she is thrilled to become the 50th royal showgirl. “Very overwhelming to have all the support that you’ve got and to have the backing of your local community,” she said. “It’s a really great experience and I’d encourage all girls to have a go at their showgirl competition because it’s a fantastic week and a fantastic experience.” Ms Nixon works for a meat processing company in Wagga Wagga. She says she wants to use the next 12 months to raise the industry’s profile and encourage more women to enter the competition. “Very special to be involved in something that’s been going so strong for so many years and I guess you can aspire to to help teach young ladies the skills that they’re going to be able to go out and support their communities in which is something that is really important to help encourage some young people back into our local and regional communities. “I’d really like to take my time to encourage that so it can go for another 50 years.” Kate Warren from Dubbo came third.
